Coordinate Measurement Machine (CMM) Services
CMM Overview
SES specializes in digitizing points and tubular structures using an articulated arm CMM. Our process measures points, circles, shapes and tubes within a 12 ft sphere to an accuracy of ±0.003 inches. It is possible for SES to combine multiple measurements to digitize larger objects, but will sacrifice some accuracy.
CMM Measuring On-Site
To ensure the quality of our work, SES prefers components be measured at our R&D center in Charlotte, NC. All components to be measured should be clean, disassembled and ready to measure upon arrival. SES will perform component cleaning, disassembly and reassembly at an additional cost.
CMM Measuring Off-Site
For extremely large objects or circumstances that preclude transporting parts to our R&D center, SES provides CMM services at the client’s location. Discussion of the detailed
requirements for the scanning environment takes place prior to scheduling off-site CMM sessions. Shipping, insurance, and travel are in addition to normal CMM fees.
CMM Deliverables
Proper reporting of CMM results is an important part of the SES measurement process; we ensure the results meet our clients’ needs. SES provides 3D coordinate data for quality control and part inspection in nearly any file type or format required, including *.csv, *.txt, *.xls or *.mat files. SES creates custom part databases and reporting formats to suit individual clients. SES provides CAD surface or solid models for reverse engineering and structure digitizing as an additional CMM output. CAD files can be made to support FEA, CFD and dynamics modeling analysis.
CMM Options
SES combines CMM and white light scanning (WLS) data to provide surface, structure and point location detail in the same CAD file. This provides complete data to support FEA, CFD, and reverse engineering activities.
